17 Sunday in ordinary time ‘b’

God always knows what to do and what is best for us. In our prayers, we keep asking Him for different things, but He doesn’t always grant us exactly what we ask for only because He knows better. He knows what we need and not just what we want. I know it is hard to understand, but I believe that one day everything will be revealed to us. When I read the Gospel for this Sunday, one sentence got my attention. It is that short conversation with Philip. Jesus asked him: “Where can we buy enough food for them to eat? He said this to test him because he himself knew what he was going to do.” I think Jesus is testing you and me at times, by letting us request whatever we want or need, but in the end only He knows exactly what He is going to do. Only He knows how to fully satisfy our desires, just like He satisfied the crowds in the Gospel reading today.
