Fr. Kris
28 Sunday in Ordinary Time ‘c’
I must admit that very often I pray in the morning and ask God for a good day, for health, and for His protection. Then at the end of another good day, I forget to thank Him for that day. When I fly, or travel -- again, I would say a prayer for safe travels, but then when I arrive at my destination, often I simply forget about thanking God. Yes, God wants us to pray and to ask Him for things, but at the same time He wants us to be thankful, to be grateful. I think that you would agree with me that, more often than not in our prayers, we ask for things but less likely we thank God for what we have. One might even be angry with God for not granting her or his request; some may even lose faith. But it is much more difficult to be grateful. “Jesus said: ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God? Then he said to him, stand up and go; your faith has saved you." We need to be thankful, thankful to God, and thankful to others.
