Zacchaeus knew exactly what he needed to do after he met the Lord. He knew that after experiencing the presence of Christ in his home, he couldn’t be the same person anymore; he needed to convert, he needed to change his sinful way in order to surrender to the life of the gospel. Zacchaeus promised: "Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I shall repay it four times over." But Jesus didn’t stop with this tax collector -- He continues visiting you and me every time we receive Him in the Eucharist. He tells you then: “today I must stay at your house.” So, what does that mean to you? Are you excited like Zacchaeus, wanting to change your life, and becoming a better and holier person? or do you just receive Jesus without making any progress in your life of faith? Jesus wants to come to you and me, but He doesn’t want to just come and go; He wants to stay in our lives, making them holier.
