Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” I think she knew that it would not be easy. She could predict that even her close relatives and friends would make fun of her because she became pregnant without a husband. I think she knew that being a Mother of God would be a great privilege, but it would also bring a lot of tears and sacrifices. As a young girl she had plans for her future, but she didn’t include in her agenda all the sacrifices she would have to make to protect her baby Jesus. But she trusted God and she was able to say: I am yours, I will do whatever you want me to do. In many moments in life, God gives us an opportunity to follow His will, to do something good for Him or for others. But are we able to tell Him: yes, I will do whatever you want me to do, may it be done to me according to your word?
