5 Sunday of Easter ‘b’

Jn 15:1-8

It is easy to say- I am a Christian or I am a Catholic. It is also not very difficult to practice our faith and traditions, like going to church on Sunday, praying, receiving the sacraments, or reading the bible. But Jesus wants more from us. He wants us to bear fruit. What fruit? I think the fruit is to become more and more like Jesus. He said in the Gospel: “I am the vine, you are the branches.” Jesus wants His branches to grow and to bear fruit, not just to be connected. He wants us to be beautiful and holy, because we belong to Him. Practicing our faith is not enough; we need to practice it and then become more and more like The Vine.
