Have you ever wondered why we have so many different images of the same Blessed Virgin Mary? Today we celebrate the feast day of our Lady of Guadalupe, and on the image from Guadalupe, she does not look at all like the Lady from Fatima, or Lourdes, or Czestochowa, or the Lady presented in other places or countries. Why? I think the answer is simple -- Mary, Mother of God, wants to be also our Mother -- yours and mine, and since we all look different and belong to different cultures, we like our Mother to look like us. When Jesus was dying on the cross, He said to disciple John -- this is your Mother now, and ever since then, she has become Mother to each one of us. You may have your favorite devotion to the Blessed Virgin, and perhaps you have her favorite image that is hanging in your home, but today we give thanks to God, that He gave us His Mother and she always intercedes for us. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
