Feast of St. Lawrence, deacon and martyr

Jesus said: “Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me.” And I don’t think He meant -- I am in the church, and so My people are there too, and therefore whenever I am, my servants will come to me. No -- I think what Jesus is saying has a much deeper meaning and actually works in the opposite way. Where my servant is, then I will be there too. Because if you are not a servant of the Lord, then you are not bringing Him to others. You are just like everybody else. However, a Christian can’t be like everybody else. We are all missionaries, we are the servants of the Lord with the mission of bringing Him to others -- in the word, in the sacraments, through our love, help, and exemplary way of living. Because “where I am, there also will my servant be” and my servant will bring me to other people.
