Feast of St. Luke, Evangelist

The Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit.” That was the mission of the disciples over 2000 years ago and this is the exact same mission of Jesus’ disciples today -- to go into the world and tell them about the Lord, that He is coming and that we need to be prepared for His visit. Since our baptism, this is our mission too. Unfortunately many Catholics forget about this call and end up hiding within the walls of the church instead of going out like ‘lambs among wolves’. Jesus is very honest and says that others may not welcome us and even reject us, but that shouldn’t stop us from going and proclaiming the Good News. “The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.”
