“Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, ‘Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him.’” I wish to hear words like that from the Lord. Jesus knows me better than I know myself, and He knows who I am. Unfortunately, I can’t say that there is no duplicity in me. At times I am sinful, dishonest, or angry. I may talk about others or pretend that I am better than I truly am. Nathanael did not pretend to be someone else. He must have been a very honest man, and with all that honesty and humility he came to meet the Lord. Again, God knows you better than you know yourself. There is no reason to make excuses, or to avoid the truth, to hide something -- because He already knows. He wants us to be humble and honest, so He could also say about you and me -- there is no duplicity in you.
