On this feast day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Jesus reminds us that: “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” I must admit that quite often I keep forgetting about that. Thus, whenever I sin, I am afraid that God will punish me for it. Yet, when we sin, we hurt ourselves because each sin separates us from our Loving Father. He still waits for us and is ready to forgive; we just need to make that first step toward Him and ask for His mercy. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” The crucifix is no longer a tool of torture and death, but a symbol of love.
