Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

Writer: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.” Simeon was a good man and he lived according to God’s commandments. That’s why Simeon wasn’t afraid to die. He was at peace because he believed that after his life here on this earth he would be rewarded with heaven. And the confirmation of that can be found in Simeon’s beautiful prayer which he spoke right after meeting the Messiah: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” Do you live the way that would allow you to repeat after Simeon with certainty - “now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace.” Nobody is perfect and we all sin. However, if we live with Jesus in our hearts, we will always be ready, just like Simeon, to leave this world.
