Recently I was driving past a church, which wasn’t a Catholic church. In front of it was a huge sign that said - come worship with us, come as you are. How brilliant! Exactly! ‘Come as you are’. In other words, you are always welcomed, the doors are opened for you, we are here not to judge, we don’t care who you are, what language you speak, what color skin you have. We don’t care if you are poor or rich, and we don’t even care what church you belong to. Just come as you are and who you are and pray with us. Isn’t this exactly what Jesus said to His disciples when “He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick— no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” Don’t worry about anything. Just come to me as you are.
