First Sunday of Advent ‘b’

MK 13:33-37

We don’t often consider ourselves as guests in this world. We work hard in order to gain things, even to gain relationships, to the point that when we lose people or things that we love, we are very disappointed. There is nothing wrong with that. But it is easy to forget that we are only a guest in this world, we are only pilgrims who walk through this life. And so, today Jesus reminds us that we do not own anything in this world, He does. He trusted us so much, He left us in charge of this world, of our loved ones and even of our lives. And today Jesus reminds us that He will be back, and He expects us to take good care of this His world, and of others, and of ourselves. “Be watchful, be alert.”
