By the sacrament of Baptism, we became God’s children. Since then, we belong to Him and that will never change. Even if we become like prodigal children and decide to live on our own, we still belong to Him. God will always wait for our return from those sinful paths and will welcome us with forgiveness and open arms. Because we belong to God, there is nothing that can separate us from Him, not even our sin, pride, nor even our rejection. Today Jesus says: “Jesus said: My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.” God is our Good Shepherd, He is there to protect us, He knows us like no one else, and we also need to get to know and follow Him. At times we may choose a sinful way of living, but we still belong to our Good Shepherd.
