Fourth Sunday of Easter ‘b’

Jesus calls Himself a Good Shepherd; we hear that phrase several times in today’s Gospel reading. Indeed, He is our Good Shepherd and we are part of His flock. But He also tells us today: “I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold.” I think today Jesus is telling us that we can’t think that we have an ownership of Jesus, that He came only to the privileged or chosen people. He is a Good Shepherd of all the people, even those who are not part of our Church. Maybe even those who fight with our Church. Jesus came to all of us and will never stop looking for all of His lost sheep. We also need to pray for them and do anything we can to expand our flock.
