“Simon Peter said to them, ‘I am going fishing.’ They said to him, ‘We also will come with you.’” The disciples acted like nothing really happened -- Jesus died on the cross, then was buried, and three days later they saw an empty tomb. By now they believe that Jesus had risen. However, they don’t know what to do about it. They wait for some instructions; they wait for Him to visit with them and tell them what it means to them that He was raised from the dead. The disciples seem bored, inpatient, and even confused. So, what they do? They decide to go back to their former ways of living, they decide to go back to work, they go fishing. Lent is over, Holy Week is over, and even Easter Sunday seems like history to us. From great celebrations, we went back to the ordinary. But we can’t be the same people anymore. The resurrection should change us, give us joy, hope, and eagerness to evangelize, to tell this world around us that Christ is risen. We can’t just go back to the ordinary and be the same sad people.
