Jesus is always ready to perform miracles. He knows what we need and He is here to satisfy our longings, but do we allow Him to? Do you allow Him to accomplish miracles in your life? There may be a reason why Jesus is not responding to you. I find the answer in the gospel reading today. At the end of the reading, we hear: “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house. And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.” People from Jesus’ hometown thought that they knew Him too well and that’s why He couldn’t impress them with anything he did. So, they didn’t show any faith in Him. You may think you know Jesus well, for all of your life. You prayed thousands of times, went to church each Sunday, knew the bible and received the sacraments. Perhaps in the past you asked Jesus for a favor, and He didn’t respond. And so today, you are like those people from Jesus’ town and may think -- this Man can’t impress me anymore, I know everything about Him. And you may lack in faith too. I think today Jesus reminds us that we need ask for strong faith in Him and joyfully welcome Him each day, as if He was someone new and fresh to us, like we never met Him before. Then He will perform miracles for you.
