Friday of the 2 week of Lent

I think that most of us today, who read today’s parable about the landowner who entrusted his vineyard to tenants and went on the journey, would agree that it is mainly addressed to those who mistreated the landowner’s son and killed him. Yes, indeed, the parable talks about God sending His Son who was killed on the wood of the cross. However, we need to listen to this parable today, since it is still very timely and real. Even today, God sends His son to you and me in many different forms -- through the sacraments, through the words of the gospel, through other people, through nature, and in many other forms. So, the question is: are we able to recognize the Son of God coming to us, talking to us, and warning us that we need to repent because the Kingdom of God is at hand? We can’t be like those who said: “Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance. They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.” For then the question will be: What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?”
