Friday of the 31 week in ordinary time

When we meet new people, maybe a new neighbor that just moved in next door, or we start a new job or enroll in a new school, we want to make a good first impression. We do that because we want others to like us, to respect us and to start off with good not bad relationships. So, in order to make a Strong start, we may even pretend that we are better than we truly are, and wrap it up into an outright lie. We may be acting prudently. Today, Jesus reminds us that we also should make a good impression on God. Not to pretend that we are better than we are, because He knows us more than we know ourselves. But He wants us to show Him that we truly care about our relationship with Him, that He always comes first in our lives. So, first - Love your God and second - love your neighbor. “For the children of this world are more prudent in dealing with their own generation than the children of light.”
