Friday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

Jesus said: “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?” And maybe at first this saying sounds confusing until we understand that He is not talking about our lives here on this earth, but about eternal life. Just think about that- we all try to live healthy and as long as possible and so we would invest our time and money in doctors, medicine, exercises, all kinds of diets and there is nothing wrong with that since we need to take care of our bodies. However, how much do you invest in order to gain that eternal life in heaven? That’s why Jesus is warning us, that no matter what we will do to save our lives here- we will lose it anyways and we know that. But Jesus offers us that life that will never end, and in order to receive that eternal life in heaven we need to start investing now- our time, our hearts, our souls, our love of neighbor, our prayers, our moral way of living.
