Jesus said: “whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” So, what is my cross, what is your cross? Jesus died on the cross. A cross was a tool for torture, a tool for death. I always understood that taking my cross is to accept all my pain and difficulties and never give up in following the Lord. And this might be true. However, today I understand Jesus’ invitation in a different way. Yes - the cross was that terrible tool for pain. But in Jesus’ case, that same cross became a symbol of love - a love that he shared with each one of us. His love for you and me was so perfect that He died for us. So, if the cross became the symbol of love, now I must take the same cross and follow Jesus. It is no longer a symbol of difficulties, but a symbol of love – a love that I must share with others. I must take my love and follow Christ.
