Friday of the Thirty-First Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

Let’s say you are in the market looking for a new home. What do you do? Generally speaking, you want to make the best deal possible -- you want to pay the lowest price for the best house in a great location. And so, you try to hire a good and experienced agent, a person that you trust. You want to get a good loan, a good mortgage rate, and so on. You want to make good calculations, be smart and prudent before making the final decision. Similarly, when it comes to relationships, if a person really likes another person, then they would like to impress that person, be nice with him or her, maybe buy a gift, and so on. Today Jesus reminds us that we also need to be prudent and smart when we deal with our God. We should try to impress God with our good living; we need to be smart and prudent in life and do everything we can to achieve heaven. This is far more important than any other relationships in this life and than anything that we possess.
