Friday of the Thirty Third Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

We read today that after Jesus drove out from the temple those who were selling different things there, “The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death.” They couldn’t admit that they were doing something wrong. They were not able to accept Jesus’ telling them how to live. And it wasn’t only about the temple, but about their wrong way of living. For us today it is easy to judge them and say - how wrong they were for not listening to Jesus. However, we often react that way. We too try to get rid of Jesus when He corrects us and tells us how to live. It happens when He tells you that you should forgive that person, and you say that he or should say ‘sorry’ first. Or when you cheat but say to yourself that everybody does it. Or when you lie and make excuses for that too. “They were seeking to put Jesus to death”- let us never repeat the same mistake.
