“Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them, it is written, My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.” We should respect our churches, support them, take good care of them, and keep them as houses of prayer. This is probably your first thought also while reading this gospel story. However, I remember once when a priest was preaching, and he referred to this gospel reading; he said that our bodies are also temples -- temples of the Holy Spirit. God lives in each one of us and so we are not only obligated to respect our church buildings, but also our bodies that were given to us. We need to respect our own body and those of others because they are holy, they are temples of The Holy Spirit. Do you take good care of your own body, and then do you respect others’ as well?
