Friday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

“Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” That poor leper was made clean because he humbly approached Jesus and was able to admit that only the Lord could help him, only if it’s the Lord’s will. Many of us suffer from all kinds of physical illnesses and limitations, and just like that lepper from today’s gospel reading we wish Jesus would make us clean, healthy. However, there is much deeper meaning to this story. Because whenever we disobey God, whenever we sin --  we make our soul ill, stained, even filthy. We don’t feel good, and we don’t feel free when we are trapped by sin. And only God can forgive us those sins and make us clean again. That’s why we too, just like that leper, should come to Jesus and repeat: “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” And the Lord will say: “I will do it.  Be made clean.”
