Friday of the Twenty Fourth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’
We are provided today with an image of our early Church “Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women…” However, they not only followed Jesus, prayed with Him, and listened to Him preach, but they also “provided for them out of their resources.” This seems like a very unsignificant thing compared to being with the Lord and being a part of that Church. However, this is something very important for our Church to continue to exist, function, and to help others. Over 2000 years ago, the early Church relied on people’s resources and today is no different. We all need to contribute and support our Church, so it can continue its mission of spreading the Gospel of the Lord and helping those in need.
