Friday of the Twenty Seventh Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

For those of you who were, for example, successful in losing some weight, or fighting an addiction, or changing a bad habit, you know how careful you need to be not to go back to where you were. You constantly need to be on your guard, because one mistake, one moment of weakness may put you back where you started. Then once again you will have to deal with the addiction, or you will put back the lost weight. Guess what -- it is very similar when it comes to our spirituality. You have been working hard to develop a good relationship with God. You pray, receive Communion, go to confession, and you feel like everything in your spiritual life is in order. But you need to be careful, because evil is waiting for you to make only one mistake, one moment of weakness, just to take you away from the beauty of being with God. We all need to be on our guard and not let that happen. Jesus is warning us today: “When an unclean spirit goes out of someone, it roams through arid regions searching for rest but, finding none, it says, ‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’ But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there, and the last condition of that man is worse than the first.”

I was signed up to receive these reflections, but have not been getting them. My husband forwards them to me. When I try to sign up, it says I already am, yet I don't get anything.
