Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

What would happen if Mary had said ‘no’ to God. No, this is not for me, I am unworthy, I have other plans for my life; no, God -- not me. We don’t know what would have happened - would God choose another person, or maybe would He decide to come into this world in a different way? Luckily, Mary said ‘yes’ and brought God to this world. God would not force Mary to do something against her will, and He would not force you or me to do anything. None of us is asked to bring God to this world in a such way as Mary did, but we are called to bring God to this world, by our good example, by our actions, by our witness to others, so that God may live in us also. The choice is ours. God won’t force us to do that. But if we miss that call, we can miss the greatest opportunity of bringing God to the world around us. “Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.’ Then the angel departed from her.”
