Memorial of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus

If you want to go to church, you always can. If you want to go to confession, that is always available. Would you like to talk to the priest, no problem, just call your parish or any parish you want and make an appointment. Do you want to have something blessed by a priest, you can always bring it with you or again call a priest? Baptism, wedding, a funeral mass -- all of these are available for us here and now. And maybe that’s why so many people take it for granted and have stopped going to church, stopped confessing, and stopped receiving the Eucharist. There are truly mighty deeds being done here in our midst, but some of us miss them because we are so used to them. Some would say, I know – Jesus is here -- so what, I am busy today. I will pray later, I will go to Communion next week, or I will get married in the church whenever I feel like. Jesus said to them, “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.” Sometimes we don’t appreciate what we have. That’s why Jesus is warning us: there are mighty things here, in your midst, but do you take advantage of them?
