If you truly love someone and want to make him or her happy and surprised, you don’t care how much money you spend on them. You just want to make them feel happy and that is all that counts. You may take on a debt, put it on a credit card, pay it later for whatever amount it may be, but only to see the smile on the face of a person you love, that is priceless. You would do anything for that. That is exactly what Mary from the Gospel reading today did to Jesus. She loved Him so much and she didn’t care that the perfumed oil she used to anoint Jesus’ feet was so expansive. She just wanted to make Him happy. I am thinking today that if I truly loved Jesus, I wouldn’t make any calculations, but simply use all of my energy and abilities to make Him happy. Do I do that?
