“Repent and believe in the Gospel’- how many times have you heard that? Many times, especially during Lent. Today you hear it again: “Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the Gospel of God: This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” The word gospel comes from Greek, and it actually means ‘good news’. Jesus is calling us today to believe in ‘good news’. What is that ‘good news’? For me it’s simply the promise that after all the challenges and difficulties of this world, there is so much more to come – an eternal and happy life. That is the best news ever! In this world we are saddened by so much bad news -- pandemics, deaths, wars, fights, hunger, poverty, and natural disasters. That’s why we Christians are called to believe, to believe in the Gospel, to believe in the ‘good news’ that Christ gave us.
