Monday of the 12 week in ordinary time 'b'

Updated: Jun 21, 2021

People can be very judgmental; we ourselves may become judgmental. At times we may not even realize that we are making judgments of others. Today, Jesus is asking us to control ourselves and to stop judging others. I am not free from making quick judgments either, and I realize this when I reflect on the Gospel reading for today. I judge some people by the way they look, they behave, they dress. I also make judgments of other priests, the way they preach, or our own bishop thinking, for example, that during the pandemic I would handle some things much better. I may even judge our pope at times. We all think at times that we would do things better than others, and that may be true. But still, we shouldn’t be judging others. We are invited to correct others and to initiate a conversation but not to judge. In the end, each one of us will be judged by God and that’s why Jesus reminds you and me: “Stop judging, that you may not be judged.”
