Monday of the 19 week in ordinary time ‘b’
Who likes to pay taxes, especially when you think that they are unreasonable or unjust? We would rather avoid paying them and use our money for something else. It seems like even Jesus wasn’t too happy when He was asked to pay the temple tax, but when questioned about paying it, Jesus replied to his disciples: we must pay so as not to cause bad example. We may not always agree with our taxes, laws, with regulations and limits to our freedom, with wearing masks during the pandemic, or even with vaccinations, but we need to remember that we are not alone in this world. We need to follow the laws, believing that they are made for our common good. Just like Jesus, we always need to give a good example to others.
