Monday of the 2 week of Lent

Most of us repeat daily: God forgive us our trespasses as we (AS WE) forgive those who trespass against us. How often do you stop and think about those words from the Lord’s Prayer? We all want to be forgiven our sins, we want God to be merciful on the day of judgment, we expect that from Him, since we call Him our Loving and Merciful God. However, are we willing to forgive those who mistreated us or hurt us in anyway? We don’t say -- forgive me, Lord, so I might try to forgive others. No! We pray -- forgive us, as we forgive others. And so today Jesus reminds us again: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven.” Perhaps the next time you recite the Our Father, think about those that you should forgive.
