Monday of the 4 week of Lent ‘b’

“Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.” Yes, it is hard to have faith without any proof, or to have faith if everything in our lives goes wrong. Dear God, give me a sign, give me a small proof and I will believe. Jesus was aware of this feeling, and He gave many signs, and He is giving them even today. But sometimes we don’t recognize them, or we seek for something in particular, for a sign that we want. To the royal official in the Gospel today, whose son was dying, Jesus said: go home, he is Ok now, he will live. What shocked me is that the royal official believed in Jesus words. He didn’t question Jesus. He didn’t ask: how do you know my son is OK? Maybe you Jesus should go with me and we will check together and, if my son still needs your help, then you can heal him. He simply believed in Jesus words. And yes, his son was healed. Jesus is present; He listens to us; He loves us and cares for us. We just simply need to trust that with Him everything will be ok.
