Monday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

After “taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, Jesus said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds.” Jesus invites His disciples to feed the hungry. Isn’t this also our mission today? I am always impressed with the food we collect in our parish; I am impressed when I hear how many of you volunteer in the food pantry or in distributing the food for the homeless and to those who are hungry. It is also hard to believe that there is enough food in this world to feed every single person on the planet, but still so many starve to death. Jesus blesses us with food to eat. In return you and I are invited to take that food and share it with those who are hungry. Let us always be thankful for what we have and never forget about those who are less fortunate than we are. Today Jesus is telling you -- you give them food.
