Monday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

Before Jesus, there was a different understanding of God. People believed that God was revengeful, that God punished every sinner for his or her disobedience to the law and commandments. There was a fear of God. Instead of following the commandments for the love for God, they tried to follow them in order to avoid His punishment. But our God is not like that. Even when we sin, He keeps loving us. He will never punish us for all the wrong we have done. And even if we remain unfaithful to God’s law, He always remains faithful to us and is always ready to forgive us. And the Lord expects the same from us. “Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil.’” We know that we have a loving and forgiving God, but at the same time, we must spread that same love and forgiveness on to others.
