Monday of the First Week of Advent ‘a’

“Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul should be healed.” Before you receive Holy Communion, you repeat these words almost exactly as spoken by the Centurion from the Gospel today. He asked the Lord to heal not himself, but his servant. When Jesus said “I will come and cure him”, the centurion replied: “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” Jesus can only say a word and everything in your life would change, all the sins would be forgiven, all imperfections would be restored to perfection. Jesus wants to come to you. He wants to come under your roof and be a part of your life. Yes, we may feel unworthy of inviting Him, but He already knows us better than we know ourselves. Just keep inviting Him, asking -- Lord, please come with me, come under my roof, help me, you can do everything.
