Monday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

We are pilgrims in this world, meaning - we are traveling through this life to one day reach our destination which is Heaven. We know that we should live good and moral lives, love God and love our neighbor, and follow all of God’s commandments. However, during our earthly pilgrimage we are still part of this world. We are part of a certain country, city, society and that makes us responsible for our communities. That’s why we support our communities. We pay taxes, we commit. We can’t simply say - I don’t care about this world, because one day I will leave it and go to Heaven. No, we must take care of this place. This is what Jesus teaches us today when He reminds Peter that they too - even if they don’t have to - should pay the temple tax. The Son of God reminds us today that we too should share what we have for the common good.
