Monday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

Mk 8:11-13

Was Jesus Christ the Son of God or not? Did He really exist or not? Many scientists try to prove or deny this fact. That man Jesus Christ who claimed to be the Messiah came to this earth over 2000 years ago, but there is not much proof of His existence. Supposedly, He went back to Heaven with His body and soul, so no remains were ever found. All we have is the testimony of a few of His disciples. We need a proof, we need a sign to believe in that, many will say. To those who still need a sign from God, Jesus says: “Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” Those who try to argue with you and ask for a proof of your belief in God and Jesus, would also ask for a hard scientific proof or for some clear sign. However, no sign can be given, since not even a sign from heaven would change hard, cold, and closed hearts. If someone chooses not to believe and does not want to listen, then no proof, no sign, will change that.
