God came to us as a simple man. He became just like us, except He had no sin. So, He chose a simple family and a small insignificant town to be born in. He chose a specific nation to belong to. Nothing extraordinary. He came into this world just like each one of us. And maybe this is why even His own people didn’t accept Him; they couldn’t see God in a man that was just like them. They became jealous and angry when He was trying to convince them that He is the One, that He is the Son of God that they were waiting for. Not even those wonderful miracles that He performed satisfied them. People expect from God something special, something extraordinary, out of this world. Yet God came to us in a simple human nature. Isn’t it similar today with us? We would rather worship an invisible God that is in Heaven, or in the tabernacle of our churches, yet we can’t recognize Him in our brothers and sisters, in another person. Jesus said: “Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place.” Let us pray today that we may see and recognize God in our brothers and sisters, especially in those in need.
