I am always amazed how generous our parishioners are whenever we ask for their help in collecting food for the poor. Recently we also asked them for warm clothes for homeless people, and we collected more than we expected. Why do they do that, why do you help, why did you give some money to a homeless person? Most likely, they will not thank you. Obviously, they will not repay you, and most often they won’t even know you. Why do we help others? We do it because we believe in Jesus’ words when He said that one day we will receive the great prize for our good deeds done here to others. They may not thank us, and that’s OK. But every good thing we have done here does not go unnoticed by God. “When you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
