Have you ever given up on your prayers because you came to the conclusion that God doesn’t listen to you? Or maybe you know someone who lost faith for the very same reason. I prayed for this and that: and what? Nothing! God didn’t give me what I asked for, they may claim. The story from the gospel reading today teaches us that if you have strong faith, it will always pay off. The blind man, hearing that Jesus was passing by, kept calling the Lord even when others told Him to be quiet. He didn’t give up even when the Lord seemed to ignore him. He was persistent, and most importantly he kept strong faith. In the end Jesus told him: “have sight; your faith has saved you.” Jesus didn’t say, ‘I saved you’ but instead He said, ‘your faith has saved you.’ Let us ask God for strong faith. Let us ask Him for the faith of that blind man, so even in the most hopeless moments of our lives, we will trust and believe that God hears our calling. Let us pray for that faith that will save us.
