Monday of the Thirty Third Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

There will be others trying to convince you that God doesn’t listen, or even that He does not exist. Why would you call His name and ask for favors since He never granted your requests? Stop praying, stop calling on His name, He won’t listen. This is exactly what happened in the story from the gospel reading today -- a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and when he heard that Jesus was passing by, he started calling His name: “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me! The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling out all the more: Son of David, have pity on me!” Only because of that poor’s man persistence and faith, his sight was restored. See, he could have listened to those who tried to rebuke him, but then he would never have been able to see again. Even Jesus said: “Have sight; your faith has saved you.” The lesson is -- keep faith and never give up on your prayers or on your calling upon God. Be persistent, and never lose faith. You will be rewarded for that.
