Monday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

Today Jesus reminds us that we can’t be Christians only partially. The young man from the gospel reading asks Jesus how he should live to gain eternal life. He confirms that he follows God’s commandments and asks Jesus if that is enough. But Jesus says to that young man that on top of following the commandments, he must sell everything he has, give it to the poor, and then follow Him. Jesus wants us to fully commit ourselves to Him, not only choose from His teaching what is easy to understand and convenient to fulfill. Think today if you are fully committed to Jesus or is there still something that is difficult for you to give up, to leave behind and follow the Lord.
