Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You lock the Kingdom of heaven before men. You do not enter yourselves, nor do you allow entrance to those trying to enter.” I must admit that in the past, I did not pay much attention to these very strong words of Jesus. It was because I always felt that Jesus was not speaking to me, but only to those in high positions of our church who use their positions only for their own selfish reasons. But when I think about this more, I begin to understand that Jesus’ words are addressed to those of us who, through the sacrament of baptism and our faith, should preach to others about our Lord, give a good example of life, and simply care about other peoples’ salvation – yet, instead, keep their faith only to themselves. We are very blessed and privileged to know Jesus, and our mission is to introduce Him to others.
