Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time ‘b’

Jesus said: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die.” Do you believe? Do you truly believe that the Eucharist will provide you with a life that never ends? Many would argue with that since there is no one who lived forever. But we must remember that besides our physical body, God gave us also a soul. And in order to keep that soul sound and healthy, we must nurture it with healthy food. And that food is Jesus’ Body and His Blood. We try to take care of our body and we should. So, we nurture it with food, drink, we exercise, visit a doctor. However, one day it will die no matter how well we take care of it. But if we nurture our soul with spiritual food - which is Jesus present in the Eucharist - we will live forever and we will be holy. “I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.”
