Saturday in the 1 week of Advent ‘c’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

In this world everything costs something. We often say that nothing is free, which is mostly true. And today many clever people create a lot of new ways of charging for their service, whatever it may be. Unfortunately, this is the way this world was constructed, by us- the people. We used to live like this, knowing that we need to pay for each service -- how much would that cost? you often ask after the estimate, or in the store. How much? Because I know that I will always end up paying, even if the colorful posters or commercials lie to us that their service is totally free. But today Jesus tells us that there is one thing that we received for free, and now we are asked to pass it on to others, also for free. What is that? It is the gift of our faith. A gift of knowing Jesus. “Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” We, who receive that for free, now are asked to give it to others.
