Saturday of the 2 week in ordinary time ‘b’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

If people are jealous, they will say many bad things about you; if you are jealous, you may do the very same thing. It is interesting that people are usually more jealous about those whom they know well, like siblings, neighbors, school friends, or people at work. If someone succeeds in a task more quickly than us, we may become envious and may say things to make them look bad. That happened to Jesus too. So many people followed Him because they wanted to listen to Him speak, they wanted to be cured, or just to be close to Him. And then there were those who knew Him more intimately, like His relatives and friends, who started to say that He was out of His mind. They said this because they simply were jealous. “When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, ‘He is out of his mind.’” Let us pray today to be freed from all envy and jealousy.
