“Pay attention to what I am telling you”. Do we really pay attention to Jesus’ words?
The disciples must have been quite excited and happy to be close to Jesus who was becoming very famous. Perhaps they thought of their bright future, of also being famous because they were the closest friends of this extraordinary man. But the Master warns them: “Pay attention to what I am telling you”. Being my friend doesn’t mean that your lives will be easy and free from suffering. Pay attention, because you want to be in my company only because of these joyous moments and so avoid all of the suffering, avoid the cross. Pay attention, because being my disciple means also to carry your own cross. But in the end there is resurrection.
